The Göta River Pilgrimage Trail offers a total of 14.3 miles of scenic hiking between Gothenburg and Vänersborg divided into ten stages.
You can find Café Torpet through a short detour (about 2.3 km) on stage 6 where you get off the trail in Frövet (see map).
Stage 6 is 15 km long where you start in Skepplanda with a view towards Frövet. The ancient remains "Krulles grav" and the cairn at Grötås in Frövetbergen are not far from the trail. From Frövet, the trail follows the old church road through the forest to Alvhem's manor. In the courtyard is the largest tree in the area, a lime tree. The trail then follows a nature and culture trail across the golf course. One and a half kilometers to the west is the Giant Mountain with the famous rock carvings.
After the golf course, the trail continues on paths and smaller gravel roads. At Hede, the trail crosses both railroad and highway. The new route takes you to Lödöse hembygdsföreningen's small picturesque cottage Valla Marias stuga. This is an excellent place for a break and a snack. A stone's throw before that, you can take a detour through the Pingstalund leisure area towards Tingberg Hill to Lödöse's old execution site, called Galgekullen or Galgbacken.
If you choose this route, you will also take the shortcut to Lödöse södra train station. Whatever you do, the recommendation is to head to St. Peter's Church for a visit and then to the Lödöse Museum.
